How To Get Started
To find out if caving is for you why not visit the famous Marble Arch Show Caves and take a boat ride deep into the caves. Or enjoy a session in the Belfast ALP at Belfast Activity Centre which contains over 200 metres of ‘realistic’ man made cave.
To try caving for real, contact a caving provider where you can learn the basic skills from a professional. They will provide all the necessary equipment and all you will need to bring is warm clothes.
Is It Easy?
To start caving you need to be physically fit and water confident. After learning your basic skills, you can gain further experience by joining a caving club. You can find a list of caving clubs in Ireland at www.caving.ie
Is It Expensive?
Until you reach an advanced stage it is not recommended to go caving without a guide. Therefore the equipment you need to buy is minimal. All of this (such as helmets, torches, harnesses etc) will be provided as part of your booking with your chosen activity provider.
