Windsurfing in Northern Ireland could be described as a" bit of a challenge"; however the basics can be mastered in a couple of hours. Fun can be had at entry level right through to the exhilaration and spills of wave sailing.

The sport attracts people of all ages and abilities and the geography of Northern Ireland means there is always somewhere nearby to get the best out of the conditions.

You can learn to windsurf at a number of Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Recognised Teaching Establishments and a course would be recommended to get over the initial hump of falling off – a lot!! A new and exciting method of teaching using modern, wide, stable boards means windsurfing is now easier to learn than ever before.

Once hooked, windsurfing in Northern Ireland can not be described as a competitive but more of a lifestyle sport. You can be sure when the wind is blowing the large windsurfing community can be found at a number of top spots both coastal and inland.
