Have an active May Bank Holiday Weekend

Isn’t May a great month!! The weather has been great, the mornings bright and the evenings long. 

There are two Bank Holiday weekends meaning more time off work to spend with friends and family. But best of all there are loads of outdoor activities on offer in Northern Ireland.

All of a sudden the second Bank Holiday weekend has arrived and the weather forecast (courtesy of the BBC) looks good.

If like me you haven’t quite finalised what you are going to do then I have made things a bit easier by writing my top tips for an active Bank Holiday weekend.

North Coast 

Come and try coasteering- The Adventure Team, Ballintoy, County Antrim

Sunday 30th May

Are you ready to experience body-surfing waves, scrambling up cliffs and flinging yourself into deep water from heights of up to 20ft!
Coasteering involves walking, scrambling, jumping, swimming and sometimes crawling around the coast.
A wetsuit ensures that you stay warm at any time of the year; other equipment includes a helmet and a buoyancy aid.
If you are a beginner, you can start off on easy climbs and jumps and build up to the bigger ones once you gain confidence.

TIMES: 12.00pm - 2.30pm
AGE: There is a family session running the same time as the adult session. Kids from the age of 8 upwards are most welcome!

Newcastle Sea Safari Boat Trips – Clearsky Adventure Centre, Newcastle, County Down

Have fun days out trying various outdoor activities. Watch Dad get red in the face, have a laugh at mum, encourage the little ones and capture the memories!

A 2.5hour session giving you a taster of activities such as canadian canoeing, archery and orienteering.

Hire a Canoe / Kayak at Castle Ward - Clearsky Adventure Centre, Castle Ward Estate, Strangford, County Down

Explore the forest and lough shore trails at your own pace. Or try out the permanent orienteering course by bike.

Lough Erne Cot Trips – The National Trust, Crom Estate, County Fermanagh

Sunday 30th May

As one of Ireland's most important nature conservation areas, Crom Estate's ancient woodland and pretty islands are home to many rare species. Cruise around the Upper Lough in Crom's 100 year old traditional craft. Or enjoy the woodland walks and nature trails to the old castle and ancient yews. Booking essential. 1-5pm.

Cruise Upper Lough Erne – Share Holiday Village, County Fermanagh
