Beginner Kayak Sessions - 1st session free

Camlough Lake, Newry / Newry Canal

Monday, 15 May, 2017

18:00 to 20:00

About the Event

This event is part of the Get Wet NI national campaign which opens up an array of opportunities for local people to get involved in a variety of watersports. Watersport clubs based all over Northern Ireland will be offering local people an opportunity to ‘Have a Go’ in a variety of watersports for as little as £10 or less over the weekend of 6th &7th May with events continuing throughout the Summer!

Everyone welcome to come and try it on the first night! This six week course will teach the fundamentals of kayaking, forward and reverse paddling, turning and eventually you will be transferred into a sea boat to start your journey into recreational paddling on inland loughs and canals.

We encourage anyone who gets involved to develop a social connection with our club and there are plenty of opportunities to do so once the initial training is over. In particular (but not exclusively) we have a very active women’s group with 3 female coaches and like to see women becoming involved in each beginner’s course.

The first event is free and for the rest of the course (a further five sessions) the price is £50 per person. The sessions run for 6 weeks from 15th May.

What to Bring

A full change of clothes, towel (just in case) a snack and a drink.
