Proud of our wee country and want to keep it beautiful? Then it’s time to roll up your sleeves and join the Big Spring Clean 2017.
The BIG Spring Clean is Northern Ireland’s largest volunteer clean-up campaign. Taking place on an annual basis throughout the month of April this province wide, anti-litter initiative is open to all individuals, schools, community groups and businesses wishing to rid their streets of litter and discarded rubbish.
Litter can blight our towns, villages, beaches, roadsides and countryside which make us feel a little less than proud of our beautiful surrounds. At Live Here Love Here, we want people to take pride in where they live, get active and keep our country beautiful.
Ian Humphreys, Chief Executive of Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful, said “it is the amazing work of volunteers, giving their time freely in the places we live, learn and work that makes a real difference for everyone. Such generosity of spirit is a strong sign of hope for our society. It is time for us all to join in and do our bit.”
Working in partnership with local councils, DAERA, Northern Ireland Housing Executive, Choice Housing, Tourism NI, Coca Cola and Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful, the Live Here Love Here team will travel across the province during the first ever BIG Spring Clean Roadshow inspiring people to get involved!
People power is an amazing thing – during last year’s Big Spring Clean over 107,000 people participated in cleaning up their local area and removed over 298 tonnes of litter. That’s the equivalent of 128 family cars!
You can show that you Live Here and Love Here by registering an event and taking part in clean ups across the country.
