Top Tips for Adventure in Fermanagh

Fermanagh is a county dominated by water with the stunning Lough Erne at its heart; therefore it is no surprise that it has a lot to offer when it comes to fun and exhilarating water sports.  However you won’t be restricted to getting your thrills on the water as Fermanagh has a lot to offer on land too. There is no shortage of unique and adrenaline pumping activities to get stuck in to, so get your mates or other half on board and get ready to experience Fermanagh like never before.

Be sure to check out our extensive list of events and experiences in Fermanagh. No experience required, no specialist equipment needed, you don’t need a big group or lots of organisation.  Just make a quick call or email to the activity providers to begin your adventure.

With 12km of Mountain Bike Trails there is something to get everyone’s heart racing in the stunning grounds of Blessingbourne Estate, 16 miles East of Enniskillen.  Whether you want to test and improve your skills or are looking to try out this adrenaline inducing sport for the first time the Blessingbourne pump track and trails are a great place to start.   Check out our blog for an expert opinion on the trails.

If you can’t wait to get on the water then look no further than the Lough Erne Canoe Trail.  Fermanagh is home to the magnificent lakes of Upper and Lower Lough Erne, providing 50 kilometres of water to get paddling on. For those wanting a more relaxed paddle or somewhere to build their confidence then Upper Lough Erne is a great place to start with good shelter, narrow channels and slow flowing water.  With canoe hire, guided trips and camping facilities all available along the trail it couldn’t be easier to get out paddling. For some inspiration visit our blog and read about one canoeist’s 4 day adventure along the trail.

You can also spend a night or two at the Trannish Island Bothy.  Only accessible from the Lough Erne Canoe Trail this haven produces a relaxing atmosphere to read a good book, practice photography or develop a work of art. Book it exclusively for you and your mates or use it as a stopover point to BBQ and enjoy a few beers after a days paddling.  Check out this video for a sneak peek.

If you don’t fancy having too much of an arm work out you can explore the lough in your very own day boat. Hire a boat from Manor House Marine and take advantage of the excellent fishing spots and numerous places of interest to stop off at. Visit Devenish Island, the ancient monastic site or simply sit back, relax and enjoy the splendid scenery.
